Speak Up! Speak Out! Competition 2024

Speak Up, Speak Out!

Calling all Year Six pupils across the country! The Speak Up, Speak Out! public speaking competition is back, and it's happening right here in Birmingham.

What's It All About? This competition is your chance to raise your voice on issues you're passionate about. For children from some of our most deprived communities, it's an opportunity to be heard. Whether it's your first time speaking in front of a large audience or you're a seasoned pro, this challenge will leave you with a huge sense of accomplishment.

Themes to Inspire You Your speech can fit into one of four themes:

What Makes Me Unique
My Most Significant Moment
The Most Inspirational Person to Me
What Equality Means to Me

Diverse Topics These themes are broad enough to allow children to speak about a wide range of topics. Previous participants have spoken about their experiences of being in care, fleeing war, having a disability, coming out as LGBT, racism and sexism. We have also had children speak about the family member or teacher who has had the most influence on them, or the subject that ignited their passion.
